Good Samaritan Ministry
Max and Margarette Cazeau began taking in abused and orphaned children in 1999. What started as helping a few children soon grew into a ho
use filled with 30 children. The orphanage was supported mainly through the income generated by Max’s auto parts business. Under the financial strain of taking care of so many children, Margarette began praying for help. In June 2008 a mission team from Carlisle BIC Church came to visit the orphanage and members from that team were inspired to help the Cazeau’s and the children. A sponsorship program was established to help send the children to school and provide them with some basic necessities.
We soon realized that more was required in order to make a lasting impact in the lives of these children. We wanted to help provide a sustainable future for these kids by helping them work towards a college education, medical school, or learning a trade, so that one day they could provide for themselves. We wanted to get them out of their small rented building and into a place where they could thrive and grow, where each could have their own bed to sleep in.
The Cazeau’s are people of great faith and they had a vision for these children as well. They wanted each child to be a light to the community, to serve the people that are less fortunate then they are. We have been amazed as we take the Good Sam kids with us to visit other orphanages. They serve the children there with such humility. It has been truly a blessing to see our GS kids serving others. It is humbling to watch them read their bibles, sing, and pray each morning and night. Children that we think have so little, believe they have been given so much.
I went to Haiti thinking I could be a blessing to the people there. I left Haiti feeling that I had been the one who had received the blessing. I am hoping this project can have the same affect on everyone involved.
